WPP is expanding its mobile capabilities with a new purchase. Its digital investing arm, WPP Digital recently acquired a minority stake in Mutual Mobile, a mobile product development agency.
Mutual Mobile builds technology products for its clients that allow for better communication and transactions across mobile devices and operating systems. Its clients include Google, Pearson, Cisco and Xerox. Based in Austin, the company employs 320 people.
The move is in line with WPP’s goal of strengthening its digital media and mobile advertising capabilities. Since the Publicis-Omnicom merger combined resources to create the worlds biggest advertising firm, WPP will be looking to make sure it isn’t lagging behind, especially in the digital space. Expect too see more investments like this.
