Michael P. Sherman, president of Fingerhut Cos. Inc., will serve as chairman of the Direct Marketing Association's board of directors in 2002, the board said yesterday.
The board also selected Gordon R. Cooke, president/CEO of The J. Jill Group Inc., Quincy, MA, as vice chairman. Their terms will begin after the DMA's 84th Annual Conference & Exhibition in Chicago on Oct. 28-31.
Sherman is currently vice chairman of the DMA board. He was named president of Fingerhut Cos. Inc., Minnetonka, MN, in July 2000 and is responsible for the overall leadership, development and growth of Fingerhut and its subsidiaries. He joined the company in May 1996 and has been involved in the direct marketing industry for more than 18 years.
Cooke has been president/CEO of the J. Jill Group and a director since joining the company in December 1995. He has served as the corporation's board chairman since August 1997.
