DialAmerica Shuts NY Call Center

Teleservices provider DialAmerica closed a Binghamton, NY, call center and laid off employees, the Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin reported yesterday.

Employees told the newspaper that managers informed them of the closure Monday and cited loss of accounts over the past three to four weeks. A spokeswoman for DialAmerica, Mahwah, NJ, did not return phone calls late yesterday.

The newspaper reported that the Binghamton center was a 4,600 square-foot facility that had been open three years and was engaged in the solicitation of Bank of America credit card applications. DialAmerica is the nation’s largest privately held teleservices firm with 32 call centers nationwide.
