CMOs on the Move: June 4, 2013

Who it is: Kristin Patrick, named Global CMO of Pepsi  Brand, a newly created position

What’s her role: Patrick is charged with driving Pepsi’s global positioning, consistency, and innovation worldwide. She will report to Brad Jakeman, president of the global beverages group at PepsiCo.

Where was she prior: Patrick was most recently CMO at Playboy Enterprises. Before that she was VP of strategy and innovation at Gap and VP at Revlon. 

Why was she appointed:  Former Pepsi CMO Salman Amin left the company in March to become COO of  S.C. Johnson. He had been responsible for all PepsiCo brand marketing, including Gatorade and Frito-Lay.

Who it is: Russ Klein, announces decision to depart as CMO of Arby’s Restaurant Group.

What he’s saying: “I am very proud of the incredible work we’ve done,” Klein said. “Today, Arby’s has a deep pipeline of products backed by creative advertising that’s been driving sales at the store level.”

Where was he prior: Klein has previously worked in marketing management at Burger King and 7-Eleven.

Who’s talking:  “Since joining us early last year, Russ led the revitalization of our marketing program and contributed to excellent business results. In my over 30 years in this business, Russ stands among the best CMOs I’ve ever worked with. We would work with him again in a minute,” says  Chairman Jon Luther.

Who it is: Lauri Crawford, appointed CMO of WorldVentures, a vacation club membership company

What’s her role: Crawford will lead all areas of marketing at WorldVentures.

Where was she prior: She was Managing Partner of MC3, a consulting firm.

Why was she appointed:  “Lauri is a forward thinker. Her creativity and keen understanding of emerging marketing trends will play a pivotal role in supporting WorldVentures’ continued growth in the highly competitive direct selling and travel club industries,” says Azcue.

Who it is: Gary C. DiBartolomeo, named CMO of Foxwoods Resort Casino

What’s his role: He will oversee  casino services, promotions, special events, player development marketing, customer development, database marketing, ecommerce, and public relations.

Where was he prior: DiBartolomeo was COO of gaming at Valley Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia, PA.

Why was he appointed:  “Gary has worked tirelessly in the gaming industry implementing strategic plans to expand market share and increase customer loyalty in the face of increased competition,” says President and CEO Scott Butera.

Who it is: James Mendelsohn, appointed to CMO of Capital Access Network, a small business finance company

What’s his role: He will oversee the company’s marketing and branding plans.

Where was he prior: Mendelsohn was a McKinsey consultant and previously was VP of corporate strategy at Capital One.

Why was he appointed: “James is a proven marketing leader, able to create programs which tell unique brand stories and solve customer problems,” says CEO Daniel DeMeo.

Who it is: Erik Forsell, appointed CMO of Mammoth Mountain Ski Area

What’s his role: He will drive all aspects of marketing for the resort including strategy, brand, product development, pricing, distribution, and advertising.

Where was he prior: Forsell most recently oversaw ASICS America’s marketing. He previously served as VP of brand development at the La Jolla Group.

Why was he appointed: “We look forward to Erik increasing market demand and materially growing winter and summer visitation to Mammoth,” says Chairman and CEO Rusty Gregory.
