Word to the Wise: Programmatic Direct

To some marketers, “programmatic direct” is an oxymoron.

They’re concerned that this mechanized process isn’t as targeted as old-fashioned media buying. But to many others, programmatic direct is simply an automated way to purchase a high volume of guaranteed ad impressions from select websites, usually publishers’ sites.

This allows marketers who use it, they argue, to focus their strategic attention on higher-value activities.
