40Under40 2017: Selina Eizik, Acronym

Selina Eizik, CEO, Acronym

At Acronym, Selina has dedicated her search marketing career (which started before Google) to leveraging technology to understand consumer behavior. Selina has started every department at the company, from SEO and PPC to Programmatic and Analytics.

What has been your proudest career accomplishment to date?

Our thoughtful and gradual, but aggressive approach to growth is something of which I’m incredibly proud. We’ve been able to remain independent, compete with the giant advertising holding companies, and be named the top agency in our industry. We’ve scaled to meet the demands of an evolving, increasingly sophisticated marketplace, ramping from 50 to 100 employees over the past couple years and creating a family-like culture where people want to work and call home.

What’s the best piece of advice you can give to future 40 under 40 honorees?

Never stop reaching for excellence. Never stop trying to innovate. Never let anyone tell you that you can’t succeed. Don’t say things like “I’ve been waiting to do that forever.” Instead, just do them.

What do you hope to accomplish in the next 5 years?

Our vision and plan in progress is for the company to become totally AI led. We believe wholly in the power of the human and machine relationship — cognitive computing will prevail — and so, we are equipping our marketer clients to do business and thrive in that space. We will develop new technology to make search marketing that derives a more personalized experience, as well as close the gaps on the path to purchase to get our clients as close to their customers as we can.

What is one interesting fact about you that few people know?

Some may know that fitness is a big part of my life. Not only is it an amazing stress reliever but I’ve found ways to keep being productive. But they may not know that I take conference calls (smoothly I might add!) from my StairMaster. Or while we are meeting, I just might be cycling under my desk! And what makes that worth it, is my guilty pleasure for Eggo waffles at midnight!
