Tough to find support for postal rate increases

Mailers – and organizations comprised of them – are lining up to oppose the US Postal Service’s proposed rate increase, which was unveiled July 6.

Tony Conway, executive director of the Alliance of Nonprofit Mailers, told the Associated Press today that the “proposed rate increase amounts to another tax imposed on Americans at a time when the economy can least afford it.”

Jim Cregan, an organization spokesman and EVP of the Magazine Publishers of America, told DMNews earlier today that the proposed rate increase “is unlawful, bad economics and bad public policy.”

Stay tuned to DMNews.com for more news on how the mailing industry plans to cope with the possible rate increases.
