Telemarketing continues to be the preferred method of marketing by telecommunications companies, according to a study released yesterday by Cahners In-Stat Group, Scottsdale, AZ.
Telecommunications firms that sell services by telemarketing enjoy high rates of closed sales, according to the Cahners study. For example, close rates for caller-ID services average 6.3 percent, while close rates for voice-messaging services average 4.2 percent.
However, Cahners predicted that telecommunications firms will turn to retail to increase their sales of wireless services. Also, large telecommunications businesses will go online to increase their customer service levels, according to the study.
