*Speaker is a No-Show at DM Days

NEW YORK – Sunil Gupta, Ph.D., failed to show up to speak at his session yesterday at the DM Days New York conference here. The session was scheduled to cover maximizing the business value of customer interactions with online and offline information.

Gupta was the only speaker no-show, “so far,” said Charles M. Cavanagh, president of Direct Marketing Day in New York, Inc., St. Davids, PA. He also said that attendance figures for the show were not yet available.

Meanwhile, the number of booths in the exhibit hall increased by 15 percent from last year, and the conference planners had to turn away 30 to 40 interested exhibitors, according to Cavanagh.

One exhibitor, Steven D. Kovacs, an account representative at direct mail production and fulfillment agency Johnson & Quin, Inc., Niles, IL, said that the number of visitors to the hall was “comparable” to last year, adding that much of this year’s traffic was generated from other vendors getting familiar with the competition.
