SolutionSet names Raj CEO

Marketing services provider SolutionSet has promoted Zain Raj to president and CEO, effective January 1, 2011. He is currently president and COO. Current Chief Executive Jeff Haggin will become a company vice chairman at the beginning of next year.

The company also named Bob Gaito vice chairman and Jack Sturn president of its data management group, effective immediately. Sturn was previously SVP of client services for the company’s data group.

“We won a number of pieces of business recently, and to continue that momentum we need to free some of our best talent up to have time to focus on more strategic opportunities,” said Raj. “We want our best talent to stay on as entrepreneurs.”

The company recently won business from Plow & Hearth and the California State Lottery, and added 40 employees this year. SolutionSet is considering more acquisitions, said Haggin.

“The momentum and growth we’ve been realizing shows that our vision is right and that we need to focus on additional add-ons to complete the picture,” he said.

The company is looking to improve its digital capabilities, including search, e-mail and digital planning, both organically and through acquisition.

“We have 100 people in our digital group, but we need to keep building that out,” said Haggin. “The root of our company is in direct, and our job is to make client dollars more efficient. So data analytics play an enormous role.”

Haggin Marketing rebranded as SolutionSet in October 2009 after acquiring the services company of the same name that February. Haggin Marketing bought Coupons Inc. and I-Centrix in the two years before buying SolutionSet.

Raj joined SolutionSet earlier this year from Euro RSCG Discovery, where he was CEO.
