Electronic home automation cataloger Smarthome said at yesterday's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas that it renamed its parent company SmartLabs Inc. and formed three subsidiaries: Smarthome Direct, SmartLabs Technologies and SmartLabs Design.
The move reflects Irvine, CA-based SmartLabs' role as a think tank.
“The creation of the SmartLabs company gives us a stronger corporate identity allowing us to more effectively leverage the leadership and focus of our three companies and further act as a catalyst to move the dynamic home control networking market forward,” Rajeev Kapur, SmartLabs' vice president of sales and marketing, said in a statement.
Smarthome Direct will operate SmartLabs' retail Web site and catalog, SmartLabs Technology its INSTEON technology division and SmartLabs Design its product design and marketing.
