Senate approves USPS overhaul bill

The Senate has approved the U.S. Postal Service’s (USPS) overhaul bill, multiple outlets reported, passing the bipartisan measure 62 to 37.

The bill will now be considered by the House, where Rep. Darrell Issa (R-California) is the sponsor of competing legislation to restructure the USPS.

At the National Postal Forum in April, deputy Postmaster General Ron Stroman stated the USPS has a “good shot getting the House to take action” should the bill pass in the Senate. “If we get that done, we can get to a conference,” Stroman said. “In that conference I think we can resolve a lot of our differences.”
