Schwab Fund Announces Web-Based Giving Tools

The Schwab Fund for Charitable Giving, a donor-advised public charity, has added two new tools to its Web site — schwabcharitable.org — that will help donors calculate the tax benefits of their donations.

The Cost of Contribution Calculator highlights the tax savings that donors may realize by making a one-time donation of cash or stock. The Charitable Giving Planner calculates the long-term tax benefits and potential growth of dollars donated through the charity.

“There is a dramatic change afoot in the world of philanthropy as donors become more involved and more sophisticated about their planned giving,” said Kimberly Wright-Volich, president and executive director of the Schwab Fund for Charitable Giving, San Francisco. “We think it's a terrific trend, and tools like our Cost of Contribution Calculator and Charitable Giving Planner will only continue to empower self-directed donors and help them create their own unique charitable giving plans.”

The charity manages nearly $70 million in assets for 1,700 clients and has distributed more than 3,000 grants totaling $17 million.
