Scholastic Launches Clifford Magazine

Scholastic Inc., the children's publishing and media company, announced yesterday that it will launch Scholastic News presents Clifford, a magazine for pre-school teachers and children that provides classroom curriculum support and materials to strengthen the home-school connection.

Scholastic, New York publishes Clifford The Big Red Dog books. Currently, there are 94 million copies in print. Scholastic News presents Clifford is the classroom magazine division of Scholastic's first title for the pre-school level, which traditionally publishes educational publications serving grades K through 12.

Scholastic News presents Clifford debuts in September for the 2002-2003 school year with a circulation of 200,000. The magazine features an oversized, “Big Issue” format (approximately 21 X 16 inches) that teachers can share with young students.

Eight times a year, subscribers to Scholastic News presents Clifford will receive, in a single monthly package:

— Two, four-page “Big Issues” for teachers to share with their class;

–Two class sets of Learn-Along issues, which are smaller, modified versions of the magazine that children can take home; and

–An eight-page Teacher's Edition with additional Learn-Along pages.

Scholastic is currently accepting orders for annual subscriptions, which are priced at $4.95 per student for 16 issues.
