Riccardo Zane leaves Ogilvy for Agency.com

Riccardo Zane, former senior partner and client services director of Ogilvy One Worldwide, NY, has taken over as the new president at Agency.com’s New York office. Zane, 45, will report to Chan Suh, CEO of Agency.com, who returned to his chief post in May after a hiatus.

Zane brings his experience from Ogilvy, running the consumer marketing practice in the interactive and CRM space.

“The goal and the opportunity is to take Agency.com, and its existing pedigree, and drive it into a more powerful force to achieve our clients’ goals,” said Zane of his new role. “Ogilvy is about 360 degree marketing. Agency.com can be about 365 degree marketing, every day, 24 hours a day. The blurring of structure in all of the media channels allows us to step in, in terms of marketing and communications.”

Zane managed a fully integrated digital/CRM team, with core deliverables around strategy, creative innovation and operations for such clients as Kraft, Unilever, Nestle, Aflac, Miller Brewing Co., Deloitte, and Morgan Stanley. Previously, Zane led Leo Burnett’s emerging digital practice, iLeo, both in the United States and Canada.

He brought digital to American Express in the mid 1990s when interactive was just beginning. He then started three North American independent agencies.

Now Zane will take on clients such as CNN.com, Chevron and British Airways.

“It is an exciting time for Agency.com and it is an exciting time for the industry,” Zane added. “The alignment and consolidation around direct marketing and interactive marketing is exciting. Thinking about it from the consumer perspective, the flexibility of the digital space allows for lots of possibilities.”
