Quad/Graphics Uses Chuckwalla v5 for Digital Asset Management

Quad/Graphics, the world's largest privately held printer of magazines and catalogs, is using Chuckwalla Inc.'s enterprise digital asset management technology to power Quad/Library, its digital content management system.

Chuckwalla v5 offers Quad/Graphics clients centralized storage for improved content management as well as aiding in faster content reuse and repurposing. The technology also will reduce cycle time and boost security for shared content.

“We transform the digital file into a digital asset, which includes meta data like who has rights to content and other sorts of business information that might be interesting to the cataloger or publisher,” said Jon Lewis, vice president of sales and marketing at Chuckwalla, Santa Clara, CA.

Quad/Graphics, Sussex, WI, prints magazines like National Geographic, BusinessWeek and Sports Illustrated. Using Chuckwalla v5, the company can control and organize rich content such as layouts, text, images, audio and video for their delivery to online, print and wireless applications.

Chuckwalla participated in a six-month pilot to best other vendors that vied for the Quad/Graphics business. Other Chuckwalla clients include Consolidated Graphics, PLM Group and Publishers Press.
