Quad/Graphics Unveils Color Control System

Quad/Graphics, Pewaukee, WI, this month introduced an automated color-management system that the printer of magazines, catalogs, books and other commercial products says removes the subjectivity of color accuracy.

The technology, called the Color Control System, is a closed loop system, meaning it both identifies necessary color adjustments and makes them automatically. The system is designed to match publishers' and catalogers' color specifications through an entire print run, from press to press and facility to facility within Quad/Graphics' print network. The company's QTI subsidiary makes the system.

Quad/Graphics anticipates having CCS installed on more than half of its Web-offset presses by the end of this year, and all of its presses before the end of 2000.
