QAS Taps Former USPS Exec for Top Post

QAS, the developer of QuickAddress software, has appointed former U.S. Postal Service executive Michael L. Murphy to the top post of its U.S. operations, the company said yesterday.

Murphy, former manager of the USPS' address management office and the agency's National Customer Support Center in Memphis, TN, was brought to the QAS management team to provide leadership and direction as QAS establishes a larger presence in North American markets, the company said.

QAS' U.S. office is in Boston, but its world headquarters are in London.

QuickAddress software allows companies to enter address records into any underlying application with both domestic and international data secured from national postal authorities, including the USPS.

During his tenure at the USPS, Murphy's national management responsibilities included the development and maintenance of information systems, products and services designed to help business customers and the USPS streamline mail distribution. Major areas of emphasis included USPS automation programs such as FASTforward and the National Change of Address program. Murphy also oversaw initiatives for improved accuracy of barcoding and address quality.
