Pitney Bowes Integrates Web Portal

PitneyBowes.com said yesterday that it is using BroadVision's e-business software to provide its 250,000 worldwide customers with a single point of interaction for information, transactions, communication and support.

The BroadVision-powered Web site also is geared to react to sudden traffic spikes. The recent postage rate hike, for instance, found PitneyBowes.com servicing 130,000 visitors per day instead of 25,000. PitneyBowes.com provides integrated mail, messaging and document management.

“With the recent postal rate change and the peak volume of traffic it generated, we had concerns about our site performance,” said J.J. Kennedy, director of Web strategy and development at Pitney Bowes. “Broadvision's on-site technicians and its suite of e-business solutions provided us with the scalability and flexibility we needed for the site to run seamlessly.”

Pitney Bowes Inc., Stamford, CT, serves more than 2 million businesses in about 130 countries. BroadVision, Redwood City, CA, develops e-commerce applications for more than 1,100 customers.
