Francois Olivier took over as president/CEO of printer Transcontinental this week, replacing Luc Desjardins, who had been with the company for eight years.
Transcontinental announced last September that Olivier, a family member of company founder Remi Marcoux, would become the company’s new leader following a selection process headed by independent members of the board.
Speaking about Transcontinental’s positioning in the market at this week’s annual meeting, Marcoux said, “Transcontinental earns more than a quarter of its revenues and slightly more than forty percent of its profits from its Media sector. The company’s strong brands in both magazines and newspapers have brought it exceptional awareness in the communities it serves and are an excellent lever for the development of its digital offering.”
Among the company’s highlights for the year were its acquisition of PLM Group, a Canadian direct marketing firm, and winning the contracts to print Rogers’ magazines and the San Francisco Chronicle, according to Olivier.
