Language Analysis Systems announced the availability of LAS NameParser yesterday.
The Herndon, VA, company said NameParser reveals which names go into which fields and examines existing data records to find names that were entered incorrectly in the past. This technology lets companies improve data quality, retain customer information and treat multiple cultures sensitively by accurately parsing and storing customer names within their automated systems.
The system can parse ethnically diverse names from more than 200 countries into given names and surnames.
LAS said that inaccurate mapping of names to database fields results in lost business. Many names have more components than the number of fields allocated for them in a database.
For example, Arabic and Hispanic names sometimes are difficult to fit into the typical “first, last” or “surname, given name” models within databases today. NameParser improves accuracy in mapping name components to database records.
Consider the name Maria del Carmen Bustamante de la Fuente within a company database. The application makes an automated call to LAS NameParser to parse the information into given name, “Maria del Carmen,” and surname, “Bustamante de la Fuente.”
NameParser can be integrated into legacy systems or it can provide the basis for new applications. It accepts an input name in various formats and provides customizable tables and filters to permit configuration for local requirements. LAS NameParser starts at $10,000.
