IWCO Direct consolidation expected to increase production

IWCO Direct, a provider of direct mail production services, is closing its Melville, NY, facility and relocating all equipment assets to its North Carolina and Minnesota facilities, ostensibly to produce greater postage savings through increased scale at these facilities.

The relocation will add capacity and scale to IWCO Direct’s platform while lowering operating and logistics costs, the company said. The company expects to expand production to more than 250 million packages each month.

The consolidation of facilities will result in the reduction of approximately 200 New York positions. The expansion in North Carolina allows up to 40 employees to relocate from New York. IWCO also expects to add positions in Minnesota as a result of these moves.

“In addition to increasing throughput and lowering operating costs, we are addressing environmental concerns about direct mail by concentrating all work in energy efficient facilities equipped with high efficiency machines and processes,” said Jim Andersen, president and CEO at IWCO Direct, in a statement.

IWCO’s recently introduced automated marketing platform, AMP, will be centralized in Minnesota with the addition of four-color digital cut sheet and roll-fed capabilities.
