Delta Systems Inc. is targeting e-tailers and catalogers with an automated fulfillment tool that uses motion-detection technology to wrap packages of different shapes and sizes in sequence.
Delta announced the commercial availability of its Trak n Pak fulfillment system last week.
The company thinks Trak n Pak can help e-tailers and catalogers honor tight shipping-time guarantees.
Trak n Pak is designed to process books, videotapes, compact discs, soft goods and other products in the same sequence as the purchase orders were received, regardless of size, the company said. The system requires three operators and can process up to 2,000 items per hour. Three operators working manually can fill 90 to 180 orders per hour, Delta said.
The system is powered by Delta's SoftFlow motion-control software. The software receives sizing information from a laser measurement system and can make more than 30 sizing adjustments every 1.8 seconds, the company said. Multiple patents are pending.
“We have not met any company that is wrapping different-sized single items in sequence that has not noted the potential for both significant labor savings and reduced packaging material costs,” said Will Salley, president of Delta Systems. “We are very pleased with our product launch and will be intensifying our marketing efforts in the coming months.”
Delta Systems develops, markets and supports software for automation-control systems used in manufacturing and distribution applications. Its core motion-control software, SoftFlow, uses a real-time operating system operating on a PC platform to provide quicker, more efficient manufacturing and distribution applications.
