EBay marketplaces chief resigns

Lorrie Norrington, president of eBay’s Marketplaces division, will step down from her role for family reasons, the company announced September 21.

EBay will conduct an external search for her successor. Until its completion, the Marketplaces unit management team will report to John Donahoe, the company’s president and CEO.

Norrington’s resignation was effective September 21, according to a company spokesperson, who added there is no timeframe for finding her replacement.

Norrington had led the division since 2008, and joined eBay three years earlier. Previously, she worked as an EVP at Intuit and in various roles at General Electric.

“Lorrie has led eBay Marketplaces through significant fundamental change as we drive a multiyear turnaround strategy to enhance the shopping experience for buyers and sellers and evolve eBay as a global e-commerce and mobile commerce leader,” Donahoe said in a statement.

Donahoe also commended Norrington for improving the site’s deals, fashion offerings and consumer protection features. EBay also launched its “eBay Bucks” rewards program last month.
