DMA names Thomas Foulkes government affairs VP in DC office

As part of an ongoing effort to expand its advocacy capability, the Direct Marketing Association announced May 10 that Thomas Foulkes joined the organization as vice president for government affairs.

Mr. Foulkes comes to the DMA from the National Restaurant Association where he spent six years working in various capacities in government relations and communications. Most recently he served as the organization’s vice president for state relations and grassroots programs and led the industry’s state legislative efforts.

In his role at the NRA, Mr. Foulkes was also responsible for the organization’s premier grassroots event, which brought more than 700 representatives to Washington each year to lobby members of Congress.

Steven K. Berry, who joined the DMA earlier this year as executive vice president for government and consumer affairs, said Mr. Foulkes would play a key role as the agency works to represent the interests of the marketing community on Capitol Hill and in state capitals around the country.

Before joining the NRA, Mr. Foulkes worked at a Washington public affairs agency and served on the staffs of Sens. Richard Bryan, D-NV, and Chris Dodd, D-CT.

Mr. Foulkes graduated from Iona College.
