Bigger Priority

The US Postal Service board of governors has approved enlarging the box used for sending Priority Mail.

The box is an effort to increase the USPS’ competitive advantage in providing weekend shipping options to direct retailers. The board also approved a $12.50 premium for Sunday and holiday Express Mail delivery.

The premium, equal to competitor surcharges for Saturday delivery, reflects the unique delivery option the Postal Service provides on Sundays. Comments from interested parties are due February 19, 2008, and the rates will become effective March 3, 2008.
