AOL names Greg Coleman president of Platform-A

AOL has named Greg Coleman president of its online ad platform, Platform-A, in an effort to expand display sales across its ad and programming networks.

Coleman, who previously served as president and CEO of startup search and ad targeting firm NetSeer, replaces former president Lynda Clazirio. He will report to AOL president and COO Ron Grant. With more than 25 years of media and sales experience, Coleman also had earlier served as head of global sales at Yahoo.

“Greg’s a seasoned sales pro who understands that online brand building is the next frontier in digital advertising and that whoever can deliver marketers measurably improved branding online will be positioned for long-term success,” said Randy Falco, AOL’s chairman and CEO, in a statement.

Platform-A is one of AOL’s three core online businesses. The others are the recently launched Media Glow, its online publishing business unit, and People Networks, its social media arm that includes Bebo and AIM.

“I thought long and hard about jumping back into the media and sales world,” Coleman said in a statement. “Platform-A’s reach, combined with the incredible growth of AOL’s MediaGlow and the potential of its social media business, gives us a strong platform for advertisers to build brands that really perform online.”
