iVillage Holds Ads Until After Christmas

iVillage, the online community targeting American women, has confirmed that it will hold all advertising until after Christmas day.

The company reportedly has a $40 million advertising budget, which includes some $11.5 million in air time bartered though one of the company's investors, NBC, which is a 6 percent owner. Television commercials for iVillage are expected to begin airing today.

In a published report, Michele Slack, an analyst at online research firm, Jupiter Communications, New York, said “I'm sure they're thinking about Oxygen's cable-channel launch. “iVillage is probably looking to brand themselves when the environment is less cluttered with competitors.”
