Lane Bryant Using My Virtual Model

Plus-size women's clothier Lane Bryant has completed the online implementation of My Virtual Model's E3 technology, which lets Web viewers build a semblance by entering height, weight, bust and waist measurements.

Called 3Dme@LB, the program can also characterize a person's eye shape, eye color and skin tone.

When viewers enter www.lanebryant.com, a pop-up window encourages them to make their own model. A static photograph of a woman appears that morphs into the site's standard animated model named Tami. Either the personalized or standard model can be used to see how clothes might look on a woman from the front, back and side.

In addition, when filling out the questionnaire to create the model, users must indicate a height and weight that would equate to at least a size 14; otherwise the product line would be too small for their figure.

Lane Bryant, which includes 650 stores and a catalog business, is part of Charming Shoppes Inc., Bensalem, PA. The Charming Shoppes umbrella also covers catalog/retail firms such as Fashion Bug, Catherine's Plus Sizes and The Answer.
