CMOs on the Move: July 30, 2013

Who it is: Pamela Kaufman, appointed CMO and president of Consumer Products for Nickelodeon

What’s her role: Kaufman will oversee Nickelodeon’s domestic consumer products business, encompassing merchandising and licensing for intellectual properties including SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Dora the Explorer.

Where was she prior: Kaufman previously worked as VP of Nickelodeon Promotions Marketing. Before that, Kaufman worked at Turner Broadcasting System as VP of Promotions. 

Why was she appointed: “Pam is an excellent marketing executive who has provided Nickelodeon with high-level vision, strategy and execution across all media platforms,” says President Cyma Zarghami. “She thoroughly understands the consumer products business and as CMO has the widest view of all the ways our partnerships move across the many different aspects of our company.”

Who it is: Shannon Knapp, appointed VP and CMO of The Leading Hotels of the World

What’s her role: Knapp will be responsible for leading brand marketing, interactive marketing, web operations, CRM, customer loyalty, and public relations for the world’s largest luxury hotel collection.

Where was she prior: Most recently, she served as VP of marketing for American Express Travel. Prior to that , Knapp held marketing positions at Centurion and Fine Hotels & Resorts.

Why was she appointed: “Leading Hotels is in the midst of a transformation,” says President and CEO Ted Teng, . ”I consider Shannon to be our CMO 2.0 – a new breed of CMO. She will link strategic vision, innovation and analytics with customer acquisition, retention and engagement, as well as drive revenue while ensuring a longer term view.”

Who it is: Thano Chaltas, appointed Global CMO of Ocean Spray

What’s his role: Chaltas will be responsible for global brand development and will be part of the cooperative leadership team.

Where was he prior: Previously, Chaltas served as CMO at WellPet, LLC. Additionally, he spent 13 years at Kraft Foods Group Inc. in roles with increasing brand and customer marketing responsibilities across several divisions.

Why was he appointed: “, Ocean Spray is creating the Global CMO position to further leverage our great brands, talent and innovation in order to drive global business growth,” said President and CEO Randy Papadellis. “Thano has more than 20 years of progressive marketing experience with Kraft, WellPet and UST, and I’m confident he will bring strong marketing, strategy and management expertise to the Cooperative.”

Who it is: Aaron Dun, appointed Global CMO of Intronis, Inc., provider of cloud backup solutions for the IT channel

What’s his role: Dun will be responsible for all of the company’s marketing initiatives.

Where was he prior: Before joining Intronis, Dun served as VP of marketing and strategy for Percussion Software. He also held leadership positions at Ness Technologies, Lionbridge Technologies, and Softscape.

Why was he appointed: “Aaron is a strategic, results-driven marketing leader with the unique credentials we were looking for in a CMO,” says CEO Rick Faulk. “His ingenuity and success in enabling software companies to integrate their marketing and sales efforts to achieve maximum results.
