9 Retailers Join USPS Gift Card Program

The U.S. Postal Service said last week that consumers can buy gift cards from nine more retailers via the agency's NetPost CardStore Gift Card program, which launched in November.

The NetPost CardStore Gift Card is an online product that lets consumers and businesses create a customized, combination gift card/greeting card.

Gift cards from $25 to $200 are available. Cards can be mailed directly, or returned to the sender for a handwritten personal message, along with fully addressed, stamped envelopes.

The nine new retailers are: AMC Theatres, Blockbuster, Foot Locker, Marriott hotels, Old Navy, Olive Garden, SpaWish, The Sharper Image and Toys 'R' Us.

Within 30 days, the list of retailers expands again to include Macy's, The Sports Authority, Red Lobster, Bass Pro and The Gap, bringing to 21 the number of retailers offering gift cards through the program.

These retailers join Barnes & Noble Booksellers; Bed, Bath & Beyond; Brinker International, which owns Chili's, Macaroni Grille, Maggianos, The Corner Bakery, Rockfish and other restaurants; Circuit City Stores; Lowe's Companies Inc.; Safeway, which owns Vons, Dominick's, Randalls, Genuardis and other grocery stores; and Starbucks.

The USPS has offered NetPost CardStore — without the gift card — since 2000, when it began its partnership with Touchpoint Inc., Emeryville, CA, a provider of direct marketing technology and services.

NetPost CardStore is accessible via the postal service's Web site at www.usps.com/netpost.
