Ever wanted to perform a random act of kindness by sending a cup of coffee over to someone who really needed it? You can now do that, just by sending them a tweet.
Starbucks is partnering with Twitter for its “Tweet-A-Coffee” campaign, where Twitter users can send a $5 Starbucks gift card to anyone they choose with just a single tweet. Here’s a video explaining how it works:
To do this, users have to link their Starbucks account to their Twitter account, giving them the ability to take advantage of the promotion. All they have to do to send the gift card is tweet at the recipient and mention @tweetacoffee . Plus, for added fun, Starbucks has taken to tweeting free coffees at people who follow it as well.
@tweetacoffee to @cherrypie___ enjoy one on us 🙂 #ShareJoy

A pretty simple, but effective concept, and it’s spreading a ton of goodwill through the Starbucks brand. It’s a small way to surprise and delight people, which is always a winning strategy for any brand. Here are some more reactions to the promotion on Twitter. (One of the coffee recipients is The Hub’s very own Rob Longert, who might just end up writing about the promotion in one of his articles!)
What is this magic? Thank you! RT @Tweetacoffee: @allycoalition, @mnolfo just tweeted you a coffee! Redeem it now. https://t.co/kn17TfTmZF
