YesMail to Close Two Offices, Affecting 15 Jobs

E-mail marketer YesMail.com confirmed yesterday that it plans to shut two offices, affecting about 15 employees. The move stems from YesMail.com's December acquisition of Post Communications.

Post Communications was the e-mail marketing arm of bankrupt online incentives company Netcentives. The acquisition brought YesMail.com 20 clients and 70 of the company's 75 employees who were in Post's San Francisco office.

Dave Menzel, YesMail.com president/CEO, said the company plans to migrate its e-mail retention customers to Post Communications' e-mail marketing platform Post Direct. As a result, about 10 employees in YesMail's Andover, MA, office and about five in Greenwich, CT, will have their positions eliminated, he said. The majority of the employees in the Andover office will be offered positions elsewhere in the company, he said.

The Greenwich office was mainly responsible for business development activities. Menzel said the company is moving those activities to its Chicago headquarters.

“They [the affected employees] were told that we'd most likely be closing the offices,” he said, “and that there may be some new opportunities within the company.”

Before acquiring Post Communications, he said, YesMail.com had about 155 employees. The company is now down to about 120.
