Yahoo Reports Big Q3 Gains in Net Income, Revenue

Fueled by big gains in marketing services, fees and listings, Yahoo Inc. yesterday reported third-quarter net income of $65.3 million, up from $28.9 million in the 2002 third quarter.

Net revenue was $356.8 million, an increase of 43 percent from the same period in 2002.

Yahoo reported marketing services revenue of $245.1 million, a 48 percent increase from last year. Yahoo attributed the rise to an increase in revenue from sponsored search services and higher global marketing services revenue.

Fees revenue for the third quarter jumped 38 percent to $79.4 million compared to the 2002 third quarter. Increases came primarily from growth in Yahoo's premium services, including the SBC Yahoo DSL and Dial products, Yahoo Personals, and its small business and communications suites of premium services.

Listings revenue was $32.4 million, up 26 percent from the same period in 2002. Some of the increase came from “incremental contribution of revenue” from HotJobs, which Yahoo acquired in February 2002, as well as higher revenue from search and marketplace services.

Revenue from U.S. operations was $299.75 million, with international operations contributing $57.06 million.
