Wyeth, DHL align shipping and logistics operations

Express delivery and logistics company DHL and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, a division of Wyeth, have signed a multiyear strategic agreement for the logistics coordination of Wyeth’s global clinical trial materials distribution.

The new agreement marks the first time a single lead logistics provider has been awarded the responsibility for oversight of clinical trial logistics material shipments and processes throughout multiple distribution channels worldwide, according to Plantation, Fl-based DHL.

Madison, NJ-based Wyeth is one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical and health care products companies, and leader in the discovery, development, manufacturing and marketing of pharmaceuticals, vaccines, biotechnology products and non-prescription medicines.

Together, Wyeth and DHL will create a closed-loop clinical trial materials supply chain to streamline track and trace capabilities, financial and performance indicators and operational process flows. The initial scope of the agreement includes global distribution by DHL of clinical materials and a framework for warehousing solutions.

DHL will provide Wyeth with improved visibility and control of its clinical shipments by leveraging DHL’s global distribution network, local relationships, customs brokerage expertise and information technology solutions.
