Worldata Weathers Hurricane Wilma, Stays Open

List manager and broker Worldata is keeping its office open today after surviving Category 3-force Hurricane Wilma with a few downed trees and no electricity.

The Boca Raton, FL, company has full use of its computers, telephones and the Internet, Worldata CEO Roy Schwedelson said yesterday.

“We’re on diesel backup,” Schwedelson said. “But we’re on a full swing, considering that Palm Beach and Broward County don’t have electricity. We’re a national company and we have clients in the direct lists and e-mail fields here in the U.S. and in Europe. They expect us to be open.”

All of Worldata's 110 employees are accounted for.

“We expect about 80 people to be down here,” Schwedelson said.
