Wireless Company Joins Symbian Partner Program

Emblaze Systems and Symbian, London, have formed a strategic technology and marketing agreement in which Emblaze Systems will join Symbian's technology partner program, the companies said this week.

The program focuses on supporting companies that provide enabling technologies to complement the Symbian platform. Under terms of the agreement, Emblaze video players will be optimized for Symbian-based devices.

Emblaze, New York, provides a wireless solution that enables encoding and playback of live and on-demand video messages and content for any platform, including PCs, personal digital assistants, video cell phones and TV.

The two companies will provide a display of Emblaze streaming video technology operating on Symbian-based “smart phones” on Symbian's Web site, www.symbian.com. The site will include streaming video from Emblaze Systems' content partners and is intended to demonstrate the flow of a real-world multimedia application, showing revenue-generating streaming audio and video applications over existing and future 2.5G/3G cellular networks.

Symbian develops and licenses software platforms for next-generation mobile phones.
