E-commerce solutions provider Webplus Inc. debuted a Web-based tool that allows shippers to compare rates and shipping times in one step.
Aberdeen, SD-based Webplus said Shipping Sidekick is available free of charge on a trial basis for a limited time at www.shippingsidekick.com. Using Shipping Sidekick customers can compare the shipping rates of UPS, U.S Postal Service, FedEx and DHL.
Shipping rates can differ between shipping companies for any given package, often $3-$5 for small packages and much more for larger ones, Webplus said.
To use Shipping Sidekick, users enter their package weight, destination, and package characteristics once to retrieve the rates of shippers for all delivery speeds on one single screen. The difference between shipping rates allows users to choose the most cost-effective shipper for any given package.
The solution is similar to Norwalk, CT-based RedRoller Inc.’s RedRoller.com, which launched in June.
The free Web-based, on-demand shipping solution provides side-by-side comparisons of major national and regional carriers.
RedRoller shipping carriers include FedEx, DHL, the U.S. Postal Service, Eastern Connection and Overnite Express.
