Virtual shopping takes off at Philadephia International with Intellifit

Technology firm Intellifit is debuting its Virtual Fitting Room, a virtual fitting tool for buying apparel online, at Philadelphia International Airport.

The Virtual Fitting Room is a cylindrical kiosk that is 7 feet in diameter and 8 feet high. A person stands fully clothed in the middle of the room for 10 seconds as an antenna wand passes around the body and collects over 200,000 data points. Intellifit software then creates a personal FitPrint that can be compared to the measurements of brand name clothing in the Intellifit database.

“Since our technology makes online apparel shopping a no-risk experience for consumers, it has great value to online apparel sellers,” said Rob Weber, president of Intellifit, Horsham, PA. “Air travelers are busy people and many don’t have a lot of spare time to walk through shops and malls. Getting an Intellifit FitPrint can help them save time and be more satisfied.”

There is no charge for the service, and the FitPrint can be used to shop online for clothes. The company service is monetized through referral fees when a customer uses a FitPrint to buy clothes online.

The first Intellifit Virtual Fitting Room is located between Terminals A and B at Philadelphia International Airport.
