Virgin Megastore online, Los Angeles, is offering consumers notification of promotional offers from the store via their digital cell phones and alphanumeric pagers, thanks to an agreement this week with Discopro.com, a new ad-supported service that delivers targeted promotional offers to opt-in users of these mobile devices.
To sign up for the free service, subscribers go to www.discopro.com, create their profile and specify how, where and when they want to receive messages. Subscribers can choose offers from the following categories: CDs and gifts; movies and concerts; videos, electronics and computers; food; outdoor recreation and sports; automotive and travel; and clothes and home.
Other retailers who have signed up to the service include T.G.I. Fridays, Noah's Bagels, Einstein Bros. Bagels, Egghead.com, CD World, Roundtable Pizza, Hollywood Video, Seattle's Best Coffee, Bedandbath.com, J. Crew, Pro Flowers, Webtickets, Shopwireless, Opals International, Omaha Steaks, Hunter Bay Coffee, Sportstore.com, Magmall, Magellan GPS and Hotel Discount.
