USPS, Travel Group Partner on Sweepstakes

The U.S. Postal Service will co-sponsor the See America Sweepstakes with the Travel Industry Association of America, the two groups announced yesterday

As part of the sweepstakes, the USPS will promote its “Greetings from America” stamps, which debut April 4.

The association, based in Washington, represents the U.S. travel industry. In 2000, it launched www.SeeAmerica.org, a one-stop shopping Web site for travelers with links to other travel sites.

The sweepstakes runs from tomorrow to June 30. Posters will appear in 33,000 post offices nationwide promoting the sweepstakes and the stamps. The posters also will show the stamps and highlight industry sponsors, which include Orbitz, Best Western and Hertz. The sweepstakes will award 50 one-week vacations, one for each state, to 50 winners.

Though consumers can enter the sweepstakes only through the Web site, they will be able to link to the site through the association, the USPS and corporate partner Web sites. When consumers sign up, they will be asked whether they wish to be added to a database where they will receive offers or information about future travel deals.

The postal service also is partnering with the travel association for the issuance of the Greetings from America stamps. Local unveiling opportunities with the USPS will occur in each state April 4.
