The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences asked Unreal Marketing, Narberth, PA, to handle online viral marketing for The Webby Awards and its newly created Webby Business Awards.
The new awards honor the best in business on the Internet and is the San Francisco academy's first in that category. It follows The Webby Awards, which is in its seventh year for honoring the best sites.
“Unreal Marketing's objectives are to help promote a call for entries as well as increase overall event recognition,” said Michael Stalbaum, CEO of Unreal.
This adds to an Unreal portfolio of clients including Brooks Brothers, Carat Interactive, several brands of L'Oreal USA, NHL Shop, Eastbay, University of Phoenix Online and Howard Stern AdNetworks. The agency also has offices in Los Angeles and Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Unreal was the sole agency tapped for generating online awareness for the 7th Webby Awards and 1st Webby Business Awards. A prior working relationship with a member of The Webby Awards marketing staff via a previous proposal submitted to his former employer helped clinch the business.
The agency will use chat room seeding and targeted posts to newsgroups, message boards and content-relevant Web sites.
