UC Berkeley to Debut E-Commerce Program

The University of California at Berkeley announced Friday that it plans to award certificates in e-commerce through its extension program, and the school was forced to add sections after some classes filled up several days before the term begins this week.

Shorter than a degree program, the eight-course “Certificate Program in E-commerce Business and Technology” begins with required courses on e-commerce models, systems design and Internet strategies. Students then choose electives from business, marketing or telecommunications before actually putting a business model on the Web.

The program offers evening courses or in intensive formats lasting one to five days. All the courses will be available online this fall.
