Transcontinental Mail Plant Goes Live

Transcontinental's new 205,000 square-foot direct mail printing plant in Warminster, PA, has begun operations, the company said yesterday.

Located at a former Navy base once used to train Apollo astronauts, the plant represents the consolidation of Transcontinental's U.S. direct mail business. Formerly, the business was operated from plants in Willow Grove and Newtown, PA. Those two facilities have closed.

Transcontinental's prepress, data processing, printing, finishing, personalization and postal-processing facilities are now under one roof, and in January the company will move its lettershop facility out of Levittown, PA, to the new location.

Included among its printing assets, the new plant is outfitted with two eight-color Quantum 1500XP half-web presses from Sanden Machine Ltd. The plant can mail more than 13 million pieces weekly.

Transcontinental operates two other direct mail facilities with similar capabilities in Toronto and Montreal.
