The Vitamin Shoppe strengthens e-commerce investment with new hire

The Vitamin Shoppe, a health supplement provider, has named Stephen Bontempo to the newly-created position VP of e-commerce, says Susan McLaughlin, the company’s director of corporate communications.  

Bontempo will report to Vitamin Shoppe CMO Lou Weiss, McLaughlin says, adding that since Q3 2011, the Vitamin Shoppe has increased its investment in its website. “We are continuing to make investments in people, content and functionality to position ourselves for even more meaningful growth in this channel,” she says.

In a release, Weiss stated: “Stephen brings a tremendous amount of e-commerce expertise to our team, as well as solid omnichannel success…We’re excited to have him here as we continue to grow our e-commerce business.”

Previously, Bontempo worked as SVP of e-commerce and catalogs at sports merchandise retailer Fanatics, Inc., a subsidiary of e-commerce services provider GSI Commerce. He also held roles such as VP of merchandising and sales as well as various merchandising positions at companies such as Integrated Sports Marketing, Lady Foot Locker, and Modell’s.
