The Knot Set to Begin Mailing Wedding-Planning Kits

The Knot, an online wedding and gift registry, is scheduled to announce this week that it soon will begin mailing The Knot Box, a wedding planning kit containing promotional materials from the site’s advertisers and a binder to hold wedding-planning materials. The New York-based company said it expects to mail 400,000 of the packages this year, targeting couples who register at the site and whose wedding is at least five months away.

The kit is designed to drive people to www.theknot.com to print out pages they need to complete the binder. The Knot Box is scheduled to begin mailing by the end of this month and will mail continuously as new couples register. About 2,400 couples per day register at the site, a spokeswoman said.

Among the first advertisers in the program are Mondera.com, which is supplying a wedding day jewelry guide; Sandals Resorts, which is mailing a compact disc of reggae music; and MBNA, which is enclosing information about wedding loans.
