Subscription Will Bring Prince to Computer Screens

Prince could soon be performing on a screen near you.

The singer is expected to bring his show to the Web when he introduces a site later this month that will be powered by a direct subscription service.

Fans will be charged a basic monthly fee of $7.77 to access new songs, videos, rehearsals and Webcasts performed by the singer and his New Power Generation band, according to a statement by the NPG Music Club.

The service will also offer consumers deals on various concerts, multimedia events and special merchandise.

Music subscription services have been growing in number and stature throughout the record business in recent months primarily because of the uncertain future of Napster.

Viewed as one of the most prolific artists of all-time, Prince is thought to have stockpiled hundreds of hours of unreleased music that he is expected to make available via his site.
