Call center outsourcer Sitel Corp., Baltimore, signed a contract last week to serve as a customer relationship management consultant for electronics distributor Newark Electronics.
Newark Electronics, Chicago, hired Sitel to develop a plan for customer acquisition and customer care. Terms of the contract were not released.
The deal is part of an initiative launched by Newark Electronics to improve its customer service. In November, the company announced it would spend approximately $50 million in an effort to expand its sales force and training for customer service representatives to use new customer-care technologies.
Sitel will provide technology solutions as it completes its customer service expansion plan.
