Safeway, ESI to Help Hawaii Schools

Safeway, Honolulu, a food and drug retailer, last week announced that it had agreed to a partnership with Electronic Scrip Incorporated (ESI) resulting in a new fundraising program for Hawaii schools. The partnership includes a number of other national businesses and will make Safeway the first grocery chain to offer an electronic cash donation to schools and other organizations that directly benefit children.

Through the eScrip program, schools and parents will be able to raise funds year-round by using their Safeway Club Card, credit card or ATM card. When a participant uses their Safeway card, a portion of the total sale is electronically and automatically donated by Safeway to the school of their choice. Schools will receive between 2 percent and 4 percent of each purchase depending on the level of their participants monthly purchases at Safeway.
