R.R. Donnelley Opens Portland Photo Shop

R.R. Donnelley's Premedia Technologies group has opened a 30,000-square-foot studio in Portland, OR, to provide imaging services to customers in the Pacific Northwest, the company said yesterday.

The Premedia group's new facility will provide services such as photography and technology such as color retouching, image enhancement and remote proofing. Among the companies the facility will serve is Fred Meyer, Portland, which operates stores in five states that carry about 225,000 food, apparel and general products.

The Portland-area market is strong in retail and catalog companies, R.R. Donnelley said. The studio is staffed by photographers, stylists, merchandise coordinators, set constructors and color specialists and has an array of features including a full-service kitchen for food photography, on-site set construction and a digital photo transmission service that lets clients approve use of images over the Internet.

The Portland studio will become part of R.R. Donnelley's network of studios in Seattle, Dallas, Chicago and New York. The company's Premedia group operates 70 photography bays and 16 facilities nationwide.
